Evaluation of antimicrobial efficacy of different hand sanitizers available in Thimphu, Bhutan

Introduction: Hand washing and the use of alcohol based hand-rub are two effective hand-hygiene procedures. Though compliance to hand was relatively low, COVID-19 pandemic situation has drastically increased sanitizers. Thus, many sanitizer brands have entered market this study taken up assess microbial efficacy different types sanitizers available in Thimphu. Methods: Ten gel ten liquid were collected from various retail pharmacy shops Thimphu during first quarter 2020. Laboratory experiment performed using standard organism; Gram Negative Bacteria (GNB) Escherichia coli (American Type Culture Collection 25922) Pseudomonas aurigenosa 27853), Positive (GPB) Staphylococcus aureus 25923) a cocktail GNB GPC. The assessed with size Zone Inhibition (ZoI). Results: found be against all strains micro organism but differentsize ZoI. maximum observed by sample N Q (ZoI diameter 33.0±0.14mm) for American 25923. base significantly higher than that (p<0.05). Conclusions: presents is more efficient form.
